Comments: An excellent, Cased British proofed Colt Model 1849 London Pocket Percussion revolver s/n 4045 with five inch octagonal barrel, manufactured circa 1855. Cased in its original Colt mahogany case with brass escutcheon on the lid and brass key escutcheon at the front.
The barrel displays the two-line address of “ADDRESS COL. COLT. / LONDON”, with “COLTS / PATENT” stamped on the left side of the frame. The gun is complimented with near mint, finely figured one-piece varnished walnut grips.
Cased in its original Colt mahogany case, lined in blue velvet and partitioned to accept a full compliment of accessories. Slight damage to the rear dust seal on the case. Accessories include a high condition ‘JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFIELD’ bag type powder flask, two ELEY BROS, LONDON cap tin with japanned finish, correct English version ‘COLT’S PATENT’ .31 calibre mould for casting a round and conical shaped lead bullet, cleaning rod, nipple key and key. All accessories are in excellent condition.
This five-shot London Pocket is in excellent condition retaining 85% plus original glossy blue and 90% plus bright case colours. The iron back-strap and iron rounded trigger-guard retains 50% plus of its original English blued plating finish. The finely figured one-piece walnut grips, retain 99% plus of their original varnish. The cylinder scene is virtually 100% with 80%+ glossy factory blue finishand all five pins remain intact on the rear of the cylinder. The screw heads are excellent, apart from a couple of TG screws. The action is in good working order. A superb example of the London Pocket in rare London mahogany case. Overall, a wonderful cased London Pocket worthy of the finest of Colt collections.
